About us
We translate longevity research into decisions.
Mission
“We want to give people the knowledge they need to better understand and shape their health over the long term.”
How it started
Beyond Lifespan grew out of a recurring observation: longevity gets talked about a lot, but rarely with precision. On one side, there are specialist publications that hardly anyone reads. On the other, there are promises that go far beyond what the data actually supports.
Mario and Max both bring a medical perspective—from clinical practice, work with aging research, and their own real-world application. At the same time, they are passionate self-experimenters: what they recommend, they have usually tested, measured, and checked for everyday practicality themselves.
From these two perspectives came a weekly format that does not aim to oversimplify research, but to make it understandable. Since its launch, the podcast has accompanied people who want to make concrete decisions—from blood tests to training plans.
The hosts
Scientific standards
We work with primary literature, meta-analyses, and guidelines. Every episode is prepared by reading the key studies, evaluating their design, and checking for conflicts of interest.
In the show notes, you’ll find links to the sources used. If the evidence changes or we make a mistake, we correct it openly in a later episode.
Editorial principles
Science before hype
We start with the evidence, not the trend. If the evidence is thin, we say so.
Context instead of oversimplification
Effect sizes, study design, and real-world applicability are part of the answer for us.
Transparency about uncertainty
Where the research is still open, we say so—instead of claiming certainty where none exists.
Concrete relevance for everyday life
Every episode ends with what you can actually put into practice.
No individual medical advice
We provide information and context. Your personal situation belongs in the hands of a physician.
We correct mistakes openly
If the evidence changes or we presented something imprecisely, we address it openly in a later episode.
Contact & partnerships
Do you have an idea for a topic, a question for a Q&A episode, or would you like to talk about a partnership? Write to us—we read every message.
